Die Serval-Philosophie: Wir führen den Blick des Fotografen
At Serval Photo Safaris, we understand that a great photograph is born from a combination of place, moment, and knowledge. Our name is inspired by the elegant, elusive serval cat—a creature of remarkable perception and patience. These are the very principles we bring to every tour.
Our founding guides have lifetime experience navigating the terrains of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. We are more than drivers; we are instructors, scouts, and storytellers. We know the angle where the dunes of Sossusvlei cast their most dramatic shadows, the hidden waterhole where leopards stealthily drink, and the precise bloom time of the Namaqualand daisies.
We limit our groups to 10, maximum 12, because your vision deserves our full attention. Whether you’re aiming to capture the thunderous curtain of Victoria Falls, the labyrinthine channels of the Okavango Delta from a mokoro, or the perfect silhouette of a quiver tree against a star-filled Namibian sky, we provide the access, expertise, and logistical perfection to make it happen.
Curated Destinations for Your Lens
We design seamless photographic journeys across four iconic regions:
1. Namibia – The Realm of Light & Space
- Focus: Epic desert landscapes (Sossusvlei, Deadvlei), unique flora (Welwitschia, Kokerboom), dark sky astrophotography, and adapted wildlife (oryx, desert elephant).
- Experience: Sunrise climbs of Big Daddy Dune, tracking wildlife in Etosha Pan, the skeletal beauty of the Skeleton Coast.
2. Botswana – The Liquid Heart of Africa
- Focus: Pristine wildlife and water-based photography in the Okavango Delta, the vast savannahs of the Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park.
- Experience: Silent mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions for intimate fauna and birdlife shots, spectacular predator action, and stunning floodplain scenery.
3. Zimbabwe – The Adventure Frontier
- Focus: The mighty Victoria Falls (“Mosi-oa-Tunya”) from multiple vantage points, diverse birdlife, and the rich, lesser-photographed landscapes of Hwange National Park and cultural hubs like Harare and Bulawayo.
- Experience: Rainforest walks for waterfall sprays and rainbows, game drives in Hwange’s teeming reserves.
4. South Africa – The Cape & Vineyards
- Focus: The breathtaking Cape Wine Route (Stellenbosch, Franschhoek), dramatic coastalscapes of the Cape Peninsula, and unique floral kingdoms (fynbos).
- Experience: Photographic tours of historic vineyards, mountain passes, and coastal cliffs, with a focus on landscapes, viticulture, and exquisite detail shots.
Why is a Serval Safari Different ?
- Custom-Designed, Not Pre-Packaged: We build your itinerary from scratch. Want five nights in the Delta focusing on birds? Or a week chasing the best light in Namibia’s deserts? We make it happen.
- Guides Who Speak Your Language: Our guides communicate in the language of photography—aperture, shutter speed, composition, and golden hour. They position the vehicle for the best light and anticipate animal behavior.
- Logistics for Photographers: We prioritize photographer-friendly lodges, private vehicle access, flexible meal times to catch the light, and knowledge of permit requirements for tripods and specialized gear.
- Beyond the Fauna: We celebrate the entire scene—the grand landscape, the intricate flora, the play of light and shadow, and the cultural context that makes each image a story.
